The cabana, also described as a “gazebo-like structure,” was knocked down by sudden heavy gusts during a thunderstorm at around 7 p.m., officials said. The injured guests were either near or under the structure when it collapsed. All were transported by Seminole and Hollywood Fire Rescue to the Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Major Destination

DAER is one of the flagship entertainment venues at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, a major South Florida gaming venue on the Seminole reservation between Fort Lauderdale and Miami. The venue regularly hosts DJs, concerts, and poolside events and attracts visitors from across the region.

The casino resort is among the largest gaming and entertainment properties in the United States. Operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, the complex is home to the 450-foot Guitar Hotel, a sprawling casino floor, luxury accommodations, restaurants, bars and multiple entertainment venues.

The property has become one of South Florida’s best-known tourist attractions since the Guitar Hotel opened in 2019.

Weather Warnings

According to The Miami Herald, the area was under a significant weather advisory when the structure collapsed. National Weather Service senior meteorologist Chuck Caracozza told the newspaper that forecasters had warned thunderstorms could produce wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph.

The advisory was part of a broader round of weekend thunderstorms that swept across South Florida, bringing periods of heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds to Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

Meteorologists warned that isolated storms could generate winds strong enough to cause minor property damage and create hazardous conditions for outdoor activities.

While the nightclub remained closed immediately after the incident, officials have not indicated whether it will impact upcoming events or other outdoor venues at the resort.

The Seminole Tribe did not immediately provide additional details about the collapse beyond confirming the injuries and emergency response.
