Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Set to Debut at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has announced an exciting new addition to its Magic Kingdom Park: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This ride, inspired by the beloved film “The Princess and the Frog,” will officially open on June 28. Located in the Frontierland section, this attraction promises to bring a vibrant slice of New Orleans culture to Orlando, Florida.

A Festive Journey Through the Bayou

Guests on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will embark on a festive journey through a Louisiana bayou, setting the stage for a Mardi Gras celebration. The ride will feature iconic characters from the film, including Princess Tiana, the wise Mama Odie, and the jazz-loving alligator Louis. Accompanying the visual feast will be a soundtrack of New Orleans-centric music, enhancing the immersive experience.

A Fresh Take on a Classic Attraction

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure serves as the replacement for the former Splash Mountain, which closed its doors in January 2023. While the new ride preserves the log flume format that fans loved about Splash Mountain, it boasts a completely redesigned exterior that mimics a Louisiana salt dome, tying in seamlessly with its New Orleans theme.

A Cultural Celebration

This ride’s concept, first announced in June 2020, marks an important shift towards more culturally relevant and diverse experiences within Disney’s theme parks. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure not only celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of New Orleans but also pays homage to Disney’s first African American princess, making it a significant addition to the Magic Kingdom’s lineup of attractions.

Fans of “The Princess and the Frog” and Disney park-goers alike are eagerly anticipating the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, ready to partake in the music, magic, and merriment of a New Orleans Mardi Gras, right in the heart of Disney World
