While cherry blossoms usually steal the spotlight every spring, tulips provide some of the most vibrant signs of the season. The Queens County Farm Museum is once again turning into a tulip wonderland, with a display of over 65,000 flowers in full bloom. As part of “Blooms at Queens Farm,” visitors can pick their own flowers to bring home on Saturdays and Sundays through May 4.
The three-acre field of tulips includes vivid varieties like Algarve Early, Orange Brilliant, Jan Van Ness Triumphs, Texas Flame Parrots, Queen of the Night, and more.
Admission to the Queens Farm is free, but entry to the Bloom field costs $8 for adults and $6 for children. The U-pick tulips cost $2 per stem.
“Spring is bursting to life at Queens Farm,” David Hughes, executive director at Queens County Farm Museum, said.
“There’s nothing like wandering through thousands of tulips in full bloom—it’s a stunning, colorful escape from the city that invites everyone to slow down and celebrate the season.”
Timed entry is from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Online tickets are required; buy them here.
Other spring events at the Queens Farm include the Apple Blossom Children’s Carnival with rides and games, a bonsai and brewery workshop, a sheep shearing festival, and an Alice in Wonderland Tea party.
In operation since 1697, the Queens County Farm Museum is one of the longest continually farmed sites in the state. The 47-acre farm practices sustainable agriculture and hosts public programs throughout the year.
