Spain Remains Betting Favourite After World Cup Draw

• Tournament runs June 11-July 19 in Mexico, U.S. and Canada
• 48 teams will compete, up from 32 that earned berths in 2022 in Qatar

The FIFA World Cup 2026 Draw is now complete, and all groups are confirmed, with Spain the betting favourite among the 48 teams that will be competing June 11-July 19. Just six of 48 spots are still up for grabs.

Odds Stay Same for Host Countries

The overall favourite, Spain, remains at +450 to win the World Cup at theScore Bet. Caesars Sportsbook has Spain at +400. DraftKings also has Spain the betting favourite at +450. FanDuel has Spain at +400.

Among the teams at the top of odds board, at theScore Bet, England moved from +600 to +550 after being drawn with Croatia, Ghana and Panama, and France moved from +650 to +700 after drawing with Senegal, Norway, and the TBD winner of a playoff group.

The three host countries – USA (+5000), Mexico (+5000) and Canada (+10000) did not see their odds change after the draw, with theScore Bet special market for Canada or the US to reach the Quarterfinals is +170.

Portugal, who have drawn the most handle to win the World Cup on theScore Bet, are +1000, sixth best odds.

Top Goalscorer Odds

Noteworthy on the World Cup winner front: Portugal (+1000) – 6.5% of bets, 18.9% of handle; England (+550) – 15.7% of bets, 17.7% of handle; Spain (+450) – 17.6% of bets, 14.5% of handle; France (+700) – 17.9% of bets, 13.5% of handle. The U.S. is 11th by handle (1.8%) with 2.4% of bets. Canada is 17th in handle, 0.5%, and has gotten 1.1% of bets.

“Since releasing the book in December 2022, the most significant price movements have been for Spain, England and Brazil. Spain initially opened at +800, then shortened after winning Euro 2024,” said Mark Bickerdike, Head of Soccer at Caesars Sportsbook. “They then further shortened after dominating their qualifying group, going 31 games unbeaten in the process. They are now out front in the betting at +400. Brazil has drifted from +600 to +800. This is after their indifferent qualifying campaign and recent loss to Japan in October.”

Winners After the Draw

After the draw, Bickerdike said there have been minimal odds movements due to the extended format with 32 teams making it through to the knockout stages.

However, the winners of the draw look to be USA, England and Argentina. The market has shortened slightly on each of these teams. France was the most notable team to drift in the market, largely after drawing an in-form Norway.

Caesars will continue releasing more markets as the World Cup gets closer. A bulk of additional markets will be released once all the qualifying path winners are known in March. Most markets will continue becoming available once the playing squads are announced at the end of May.

“Soccer falls behind only Football, Basketball and Baseball as Caesars’ most popular sport in terms of wagers struck so expectations for next summer’s World Cup are extremely high,” he said.

Massive Handle Expected

Bickerdike added that having an extended tournament in a U.S. customer-friendly time zone should see this being the highest handle Soccer competition that the industry has ever seen.

Planning is well underway to ensure that Caesars’ bettors have more markets, products and offers available to them than ever before, he said.
