After two unsuccessful attempts to catch snook in Crystal River in Florida, I was skeptical about going again. This time I was headed to Orlando for ICAST 2019, and left a day later than I had planned. Originally I was leaving on Sunday, fishing in Tampa Bay for snook all day Monday and then heading to ICAST. Unfortunately, I had to work on that Monday, forcing me to leave on Tuesday morning. With only a few hours of daylight left as I arrived on the Nature Coast, I knew my fishing trip would be short, and the rain wasn’t helping either. Literally only 200 yards from the truck and 20 minutes after launching, I was hooked into my very first snook. A 24″ fish that has completely addicted me to kayak snook fishing.
