Don’t just sit at home! There are plenty of great things to do around New York City this weekend.

Here’s a look at some of the best events happening around town between May 16-18!

Friday, May 16: A prom alternative!

Bronx Anti-Prom 2025: Calling all teens! Come hang out and dance the night away at Bronx Anti-Prom, the Library’s annual celebration for teens, featuring music, art activities, snacks, and more. Special outfits are optional… but always encouraged! Clason’s Point Library, 1215 Morrison Ave., Bronx. 6:30 p.m. Free, must be ages 12-18.

UG! Comedy Show: At the legendary One and One Bar every Friday is the UG! Comedy show! Todd Montesi and Chris Wagner and the rest of the UG crew have been running the show for over 14 years and it features NYCs top stand up comedians. One and One, 76 E 1st St., Manhattan. 8:30 – 10 p.m. $10 online; $15 at the door.

Saturday, May 17: Fly a kite!

Kite Festival: Join Brooklyn Bridge Park for a day of sky-high fun at their annual Kite Festival! Bring your own kite, purchase, or make one on site, and take part in a joyful spring celebration for all ages. Pier 5 – Brooklyn Bridge Park, 334 Furman St., Brooklyn. 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Free.

Bronx Night Market: As the longest-running event series in the northernmost borough, Bronx Night Market revolutionizes the foodie scene and strengthens the Bronx’s identity. Featuring over 30 local vendors and attracting over 4,000 guests each time, this iconic market is a vibrant hub for community engagement and culinary exploration. 1 Fordham Plaza, Bronx. 12 – 7 p.m. Free entry.

Sunday, May 18: Have some brunch!

Lil’ Brunch Club: Enjoy a fun-filled brunch experience designed just for kids! Bring the little ones for a morning of delicious bites, exciting games, and live entertainment—plus kid-friendly mocktails that make them feel extra special! The Randolph, 82 Prospect St., Brooklyn. 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Free.

Uptown Rumble: Heavy Music in The Bronx Exhibit: Uptown Rumble: Heavy Music in The Bronx explores the rich and little-known history of Bronx bands and musicians playing in the heavier registers of rock music including hard rock, heavy metal, thrash metal, death metal, hardcore, and more, from the 1960s through the early 2000s. Museum of Bronx History, 3266 Bainbridge Ave., Bronx. 1 – 5 p.m. $3-5.
