Divers Alert Network Lionfish Initiative Press Release-HD 720p Video Sharing.mov
In conjunction with Sunset House’s Dive Center, Sunset Divers, 40th Anniversary Celebration in Grand Cayman, Divers Alert Network released, live on Friday Morning, April 27th, 2012, their Worldwide Lionfish Awareness and First Aid Initiative.
Here are some details about the DAN Lionfish Awareness program. It is broken down into several components.
1. The Information Card. This double sided card will be made of waterproof stock (not unlike DAN’s membership card) and will be made to fit in a wallet or purse. On one side, it will have recommendations on what to do if you come into contact with a Lionfish (remain calm, ascend slowly, exit the water, go to a medical facility, call DAN). The Backside will have first aid procedures.
2. Lionfish PSA. The Public Service Announcement is one Divers Alert Network is co-sponsoring with DEMA (Diving Equipment and Marketing Association). These PSA (for both Radio and Television) will be available for the media immediately following the announcement.
This program has been fully funded by Divers Alert Network, so there has been no cost for development, production or distribution.here at Sunset House or the Cayman Islands. Divers Alert Network’s hope is to work with tourism authorities such as CITA, so the Information Card can have their logo along with the DAN logo. The only thing Divers Alert Network has asked is that the Information Cards get in the hands of every diver visiting our beloved islands.
The plan was launched in the Cayman Islands at Sunset House (
www.sunsethouse.com), the morning of April 27th, 2012 at 7:30 AM with Divers Alert Network CEO, Dan Orr.
Divers Alert Network is a major sponsor of the Sunset Diver 40th Anniversary Weekend (April 26th — April 30th, 2012),
