Man shot to death in late-night bloodshed in the Bronx

Police are investigating after a man was found shot to death in front of a Bronx apartment building late Sunday night.
According to law enforcement sources, the horrifying incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. on May 24 in front of an apartment building at 360 E. 161 St. in Concourse Village.
Officers from the 42nd Precinct, responding to a 911 call of a man shot at the location, rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found 34-year-old Javan Jones of E. 102 Street in Manhattan with a single gunshot wound to the back.
EMS responded to the incident and rushed Jones to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.
So far, no arrests have been made, but the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident comes on the heels of another deadly shooting in the Bronx Sunday morning, in which a 29-year-old man was shot in the chest in front of an apartment building at 2201 Haviland Ave. near the Cross Bronx Expressway service road in Parkchester.

Through May 17, the Bronx saw 32 murders in 2026, which is down from 37 during the same time period last year, according to the latest crime statistics. Overall, major crime, including murder, rape and robbery, is also down in the borough just over 11% during the same period.
