Police – NBC New York



An NYPD officer was shot in the Bronx and rushed to the hospital, according to police.

The shooting took place in the area of Paulding Avenue and East Gun Hill Road in the Williamsbridge neighborhood around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

It was not immediately clear what happened leading up to the gunfire, but police at the scene confirmed to NBC New York that an officer had been struck by at least one bullet. It was not known who fired the shot, or if anyone had been taken into custody.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital and was said to be stable, though further information regarding a condition was not available.

An investigation is ongoing.
