A 4-alarm fire broke out at a Catholic church in Brooklyn Easter Sunday and flames could be seen billowing out of the top floor windows.
The fire, which erupted at around 1:45 p.m., spread across the second floor of Our Lady of the Rosary Pompeii, located at 225 Siegel St. in Williamsburg. Two civilians and three firefighters suffered minor injuries, according to the FDNY.
A FDNY spokesperson said that services were not going on at the time of the fire. However, according to News 12, a priest said that were parishioners inside at the time the blaze broke out.
The New York City Emergency Management Department called on the public to steer clear of the area near McKibbin Court and Seigel Street in East Williamsburg. The area has been inundated with smoke.
It is unclear what caused the blaze.
