After no grand prize winner since May 31, two lucky tickets, sold in Texas and Missouri, matched all six numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing and will split a massive $1.787 billion jackpot, according to Powerball officials.
The winning numbers were: 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, with a red Powerball of 17 and a Power Play multiplier of 2.
Saturday’s drawing also produced 18 $1 million winners across the country, including in California (2), Colorado, Florida, Illinois (2), Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio (2), Oregon, Texas (2), and West Virginia. Two more tickets in Kansas and Texas hit the Power Play and are worth $2 million each.
This marks the second-largest lottery jackpot ever won in U.S. history, just behind the record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball prize won in California in 2022. It also set a new record for the longest jackpot run in the game’s history.
The winners’ identities and the exact locations where the tickets were sold have not yet been released.
“Congratulations to our newest Powerball jackpot winners and the Missouri Lottery and Texas Lottery for selling the winning tickets,” said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and CEO of the Iowa Lottery. “Each $2 ticket sold during this Powerball jackpot run gave players a chance at the prize, while also supporting vital public programs and services in their communities — and that’s worth celebrating.”
The prize is subject to taxes, which includes an automatic federal withholding of 24% and another 13% in federal taxes when you file your 2025 return.
There are also state taxes in some jurisdictions, which range from 2.9% to 10.9% depending on the state you live in. But if you’re lucky enough to live in California, Florida, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington or Wyoming, you won’t pay state taxes on your winnings.
Powerball is played in 45 states plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. ET at the Florida Lottery studio in Tallahassee.
